Well, I draw manga, so this technique wouldn't look to good on the skin, but it definitely is a great technique, and it explains somethings to me that I've tried to achieve. Thanks a lot for these tutorials.

Could you recommend any basic supplies for starting watercolor painting? (P.S. I've never painted seriously before, though I have some old brushes from my family some watercolor paints in my room somewhere.)

well if you've got brushes and a pan of watercolors i'd say that you're set to begin already :D of course you'll need watercolor paper (or cardstock) to work on and if you want to be fully prepared, go out and buy a few tubes of basic colors (cadmium red, lemon yellow, ect) and a new pan to work with
